McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What It Means for Fast Food Fans

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based locations have agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially launched on June 25.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some outlets have chosen to continue the deal until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion started, confirming its appeal.

This move has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond competitively. Arby’s recently introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Meanwhile, Burger King has stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s offering and has introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the promotional fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo named the “Biggie Bag.”
