McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for a four-week period.

The meal deal is expected to be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, with the specific duration of the promotion varying by location—some franchises may continue the deal into August.

As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this meal bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Recent analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the bundle significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s locations, highlighting its appeal to consumers.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray, offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

In a bid to stay competitive, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s deal, complementing it with new items in their “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has rolled out a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
