Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, following a positive response from customers. According to Bloomberg, a memo from the chain revealed that most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to prolong this promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for a four-week period.

The deal will continue to be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some franchises have chosen to continue the deal into August.

As consumers navigate the challenges of rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has been a successful strategy for attracting more customers. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of this bundle led to a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s outlets, showcasing its appeal.

This move has also prompted rival fast casual dining chains to respond with their own competitive deals. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King previously stated that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offer, along with new additions to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the trend by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and has recently introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
