McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. A significant number of U.S. McDonald’s locations have chosen to continue this promotion, which originally launched on June 25, beyond its initial four-week duration.
The $5 meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although availability may differ by location, with some franchises extending the deal until August.
This promotion comes at a time when many consumers are feeling the pinch of rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The McDonald’s bundle appears to be successful, as foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a marked increase in visitors to McDonald’s restaurants following the rollout of the deal.
Other fast casual dining chains have taken notice and are responding with their own promotional offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than the McDonald’s offer, and it has introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
