McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal: What It Means for Fast Food Fans

McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which began on June 25, will remain available at around 93% of U.S. locations, although the duration may vary from one restaurant to another. Some outlets are even keeping the deal active until August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this meal bundle has proven advantageous for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the introduction of the deal, indicating its appeal to diners.

This promotion has prompted competition among other fast casual dining chains. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than McDonald’s offering, and the company has been introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the pricing strategy with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
