McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a memo that indicates a majority of its U.S. locations have agreed to keep the promotion running, which began on June 25.

According to reports, the meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though the exact duration may differ by location, with some franchises opting to continue the deal until August.

As consumers face increasing food prices and seek affordable dining options, this bundle has proven to be beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai observed a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s shortly after the promotion was launched, highlighting its appeal to shoppers.

The success of this deal has prompted competitors in the fast casual dining sector to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also entered the contest by offering a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box.

In a competitive move, Burger King recently announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s promotion, while also adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
