McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal promotion for a few more weeks, according to reports. The promotion, which initially started on June 25, has received approval from the majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s restaurants to continue beyond its original four-week timeframe.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the nation, though the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some restaurants planning to keep the deal until August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the $5 deal has proven popular for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the promotion was launched, indicating that it has struck a chord with customers.
This promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own value deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray, offering a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier this year, Burger King announced an extension of its $5 “Your Way Meal,” revealing plans for new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and subsequently introduced the $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
