McDonald’s, the popular fast-food chain, has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its original four-week timeframe that started on June 25.

The $5 meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it through August.

This extension comes at a time when consumers are feeling the pinch from rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The appealing bundle has reportedly proven effective for McDonald’s, as foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in visitor numbers following the launch of the promotion, indicating that it resonates well with customers.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray by offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would outlast McDonald’s offering, while also introducing new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
