McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week launch on June 25. The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the promotion’s duration may vary by location, with some extending it until August.

This move comes at a time when consumers are facing high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s bundle an appealing option. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s following the launch of the meal deal, indicating that it has resonated well with consumers.

Other fast casual dining chains have reacted by introducing their own promotional deals to compete in the bargain market. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Additionally, Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s deal, and it also unveiled new items on its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has not been left out of the competition either, introducing a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo named the “Biggie Bag.”
