McDonald’s has announced an extension of its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo, most U.S. locations have decided to keep the promotion running beyond the initial four-week period that began on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, with the length of the promotion varying by location. Some franchises have chosen to extend the deal until August.
With consumers facing financial strain due to rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that the introduction of this deal resulted in a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, highlighting its appeal.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted competitors to respond with their own discount offerings. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would outlast the McDonald’s promotion, along with new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
