McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several additional weeks. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have opted to continue the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for four weeks.

Approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide will continue offering this deal, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some opting to keep it available until August.

In a climate where many consumers are struggling with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle appears to be positively impacting the company’s business.

Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that there was a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the introduction of the meal deal, indicating it has resonated well with the audience.

Other fast casual dining chains are reacting to this trend by rolling out their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In response to the competitive landscape, Burger King recently stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would last longer than McDonald’s offering and unveiled new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the mix with a $3 breakfast bundle and has introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
