McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a surge in customer interest. According to a memo from the company, a majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have opted to continue the promotion that initially started on June 25.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, with some locations extending the deal until August. This promotion comes at a time when consumers are feeling the strain of rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s offer appealing.

Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a noticeable increase in visits to McDonald’s eateries shortly after the bundle was introduced, indicating its positive reception among customers. The success of this deal has prompted competing fast-casual dining chains to initiate their own promotional offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In the competitive landscape, Burger King mentioned that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than the McDonald’s deal, and it has been adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has also rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
