McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, a move that reflects the company’s response to rising food prices affecting consumers. According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week launch period, which began on June 25.

The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, with the specific duration of the promotion varying by location. Some franchises are extending the deal until August.

The timing of this promotion comes as many consumers are facing financial strain due to high food prices, particularly in fast-casual dining. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s locations soon after the bundle was introduced, indicating that the deal has resonated with the public.

This competitive pricing strategy has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King declared that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue for a longer period, while also introducing new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has since begun offering a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
