Fast food leader McDonald’s will be extending its $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the United States have opted to extend this promotion beyond the initial four-week period that began on June 25.

The popular meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the promotion’s duration may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to continue it until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal has proven beneficial for the company. A recent analysis by foot traffic tracking firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s outlets shortly after the launch of the bundle, highlighting its appeal to diners.

The success of McDonald’s has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with their own promotions. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would outlast the McDonald’s promotion, following its introduction of new items under the “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
