Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.

According to a memo from the chain, reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. have agreed to continue this promotion, which initially began on June 25 for a four-week period.

The meal bundle will be available in approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the country, although the duration of the promotion may vary by restaurant, with some opting to extend it through August.

As consumers grapple with rising food costs, particularly in fast casual dining, McDonald’s offering seems to be yielding positive results for the company.

Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the launch of the bundle, indicating strong consumer interest.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual chains to participate in the competition for customer attention. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King mentioned that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than the McDonald’s deal, while also planning new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has jumped on the trend as well, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
