McDonald’s has announced that it will continue its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a decision by the majority of its U.S. locations to extend the promotion which originally began on June 25. This deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though duration may vary from one location to another, with some extending it until August.
The move comes as many consumers are feeling the strain of high food prices, particularly at fast casual dining establishments, making the McDonald’s bundle an attractive option. Foot traffic analysis firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the promotion was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.
Other fast casual dining chains are responding to McDonald’s success by introducing their own value deals. Arby’s is offering a $9 bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has added a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would run longer than McDonald’s offering, and it has sought to enhance its menu with new items. Additionally, Wendy’s has joined the trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
