McDonald’s Extends $5 Meal Deal Amid Fast Food Frenzy

Fast food titan McDonald’s has decided to continue its popular $5 meal deal for several additional weeks. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to extend the promotion beyond its initial four-week run, which started on June 25.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the deal may differ by location. Some franchises are extending the promotion until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly within the fast casual dining sector, this McDonald’s bundle has proven advantageous for the company. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that after the introduction of the bundle, McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in customer visits, highlighting its appeal to diners.

The successful deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, in late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s deal, and earlier that month, the chain announced new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the competitive landscape as well, introducing a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo dubbed the “Biggie Bag.”
