Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially kicked off on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the specifics of the promotion’s duration will differ by location, with some franchises planning to continue offering it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal has proven beneficial for the company. A recent report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the meal bundle, highlighting its appeal to patrons.
This initiative has also prompted other fast casual dining establishments to enhance their value offerings in response. For example, Arby’s introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited time offer for a $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Moreover, in late May, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond McDonald’s promotion period and introduced new menu items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and launched a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
