Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a report from Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have opted to continue the promotion, which initially started on June 25 and was originally set for four weeks.

The $5 meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the specific duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it through August.

As inflation continues to pressure consumers’ budgets, particularly in the realm of fast casual dining, the McDonald’s promotion has proven effective in driving traffic to its restaurants. A recent analysis by Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in foot traffic shortly after the meal bundle was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.

Other fast casual dining establishments have responded to the competitive landscape by launching their own promotions. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has put a permanent $1.99 value menu in place. Taco Bell has also entered the fray with a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King has announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than the McDonald’s deal. The company is also adding new menu items under its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag” to attract value-seeking customers.
