McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which initially launched on June 25, will continue at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States. The duration of the deal may vary by location, with some franchises choosing to keep it running until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be a successful strategy for the chain. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai noticed a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the promotion was introduced, indicating that the deal is resonating well with customers.

This move has sparked a competitive response from other fast casual dining chains. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, along with its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In May, Burger King mentioned that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offering. That month, Burger King also revealed plans for new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the fray as well, with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
