McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for an additional few weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which originally started on June 25.
The deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration may vary by location, with some franchises extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s promotion has proven successful in attracting customers. A foot traffic analysis by Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the bundle was introduced, highlighting its appeal among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic now offers a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Taco Bell announced a temporary $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King has indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will last longer than McDonald’s offering. The chain also recently added new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
