McDonald’s has announced that it will extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, following strong consumer interest. According to a memo from the fast-food chain, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to extend the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for four weeks.
The $5 meal bundle will continue to be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises opting to keep the deal available until August.
As consumers face high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s has found success with this initiative. A recent analysis by foot traffic firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits following the promotion’s introduction, demonstrating its appeal among patrons.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own competitive offers. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box as a limited-time offer, alongside its previously established $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King previously announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s deal and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the discount trend, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and has launched the $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
