McDonald’s is bringing back its beloved Boo Buckets just in time for Halloween, exciting fans with the return of these nostalgic items. Starting October 21, the Happy Meal buckets will feature new designs, showcasing adorably spooky faces, including Cat and Zombie, alongside previously popular versions like Ghost, Pumpkin, and Goblin. These colorful buckets, available in multiple hues including white, green, orange, red, and black, not only serve as containers for Happy Meals but also double as fun trick-or-treat bags.

Originally launched in 1986, the Boo Buckets have captured the hearts of many over the years, returning to McDonald’s locations in 2016, 2022, and now again in 2023. This revival coincides with another nostalgic promotion from the fast-food chain: the much-loved Monopoly Game, which is making its return after being discontinued in 2016.

Starting Monday, October 6, customers can participate in the limited-time Monopoly promotion. By ordering from the specially designated menu, they can peel tabs on food containers to reveal prizes. Participants have the chance to win various rewards ranging from free food to extravagant prizes like dream vacations and even a $1 million cash prize.

McDonald’s has emphasized their commitment to enhancing the gaming experience, urging both seasoned players and newcomers to engage through the McDonald’s app. “Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a first-time player, we’re giving fans even more ways to play… because two chances to win are always better than one,” stated the company in a recent release. Each game piece also allows players to earn Bonus Plays for additional chances to win.

To join the fun, customers must download the McDonald’s app, register for the Monopoly game by October 6, and purchase a qualifying menu item, such as a 10-piece chicken nugget or a McMuffin. These game pieces are designed to provide either Instant Win Prizes or Collect to Win Property Prizes, encouraging players to gather as many properties as they can for bigger rewards.

Highlighting the nostalgic impact of these promotions, Alyssa Buetikofer, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer of McDonald’s USA, noted, “This game is a core memory for so many customers. We’re excited that those memories can now be shared across generations.” With the return of the Boo Buckets and Monopoly Game, McDonald’s is not just celebrating Halloween but also creating shared experiences that span across generations, inviting everyone to partake in the festive fun.
