McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. A majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its original four-week period, which began on June 25.
The $5 meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some establishments opting to maintain the deal until August.
As consumers face higher food prices, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, this promotion has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits at McDonald’s locations following the launch of the meal bundle, indicating a strong response from consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than McDonald’s offer, while also updating its menu with new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
