McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following positive reception from customers. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, many of the U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to keep the promotion running beyond its initial four-week launch that started on June 25.
The meal bundle will continue to be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some establishments planning to maintain the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, this promotion has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai highlighted a significant increase in customers shortly after the promotion’s introduction, indicating that it has successfully attracted diners.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own value offerings. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu in June.
In contrast, Burger King has claimed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will remain available for a longer duration than the McDonald’s promotion. Additionally, Burger King has plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the competitive environment with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
