McDonald’s has announced that it will continue its popular $5 meal deal for an extended period, following strong consumer interest. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for four weeks.
The $5 meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may vary depending on location, with some extending it through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s deal has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the bundle, indicating its popularity among diners.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining brands to introduce their own competitive deals. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also joined the trend in June, offering a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King announced its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offering and has recently introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also launched a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
