McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, responding to consumer demand amid rising food prices. According to a memo, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. opted to continue the promotion, which originally started on June 25.
Approximately 93% of the fast-food chain’s restaurants will participate in this offer, although the duration may differ by location, with some extending the deal until August.
As consumers face increased costs for food, especially in fast casual dining, McDonald’s $5 bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customers following the launch of the meal deal, indicating its popularity among diners.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to introduce their own competitive deals. For example, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has created a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also joined the fray by offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and the Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue beyond the McDonald’s offering. The chain also revealed plans to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has introduced a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
