McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will continue to be available for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of the U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to extend the promotion beyond its original four-week period, which began on June 25.
The $5 bundle will remain on offer at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, with the specific duration of the promotion varying by location. Some franchises have chosen to continue the deal until August.
This extension comes at a time when many consumers are facing rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector. The McDonald’s bundle has proven successful, as recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai shows a significant increase in customer visits to its restaurants since the promotion launched, highlighting its appeal to consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In response to competition, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than the McDonald’s promotion. Additionally, the chain has introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo dubbed the “Biggie Bag.”
