McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks due to its popularity among consumers. According to a memo from the fast-food giant, a significant number of its U.S. locations have chosen to continue the promotion, which started on June 25 and was initially set for four weeks.
The discounted meal option will remain available at about 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the specific duration of the promotion may vary by location. Some locations are expected to maintain the deal until August.
This extension comes at a time when many consumers are facing rising food costs, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector. The $5 meal deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, leading to increased foot traffic in its restaurants. Analytics firm Placer.ai reported a notable rise in the number of customers visiting McDonald’s following the introduction of the bundle, indicating that it has resonated well with patrons.
The success of McDonald’s deal has also prompted other fast-casual dining brands to respond with their own promotional offerings. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has unveiled a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available longer than McDonald’s promotion and introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also launched a $3 breakfast bundle, as well as a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
