McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, following its initial launch on June 25. According to a memo obtained by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to prolong the promotion beyond the original four-week period.
This bundle will be available at around 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some extending the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining segment, McDonald’s initiative is proving beneficial. Foot traffic analysis by Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the meal bundle has led to a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants.
The success of this promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu, and Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would outlast McDonald’s offering, while also integrating new menu items. Wendy’s has entered the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
