McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, following a successful initial launch on June 25, as reported by Bloomberg. According to a memo from the fast-food chain, a majority of its U.S. locations will continue to offer the promotion, which will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country. However, the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises extending the deal until August.

The decision to continue the promotion comes as consumers are feeling the pressure of rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector. The $5 meal bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, leading to an increase in customer visits. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant rise in customer numbers at McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the promotion was introduced, indicating a positive response from consumers.

This move has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to react by introducing their own competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In addition to these offerings, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be extended beyond McDonald’s promotion timeline, while also introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also engaged in the discount frenzy by presenting a $3 breakfast bundle and recently launched a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
