Fast food leader McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which initially launched on June 25, has gained approval from a majority of U.S. McDonald’s locations to continue beyond its original four-week period.
The meal bundle will still be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to extend it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal deal has proven effective for the company. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that foot traffic increased significantly in McDonald’s outlets soon after the introduction of this deal, highlighting its appeal among customers.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own enticing offers. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box and is still promoting its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In response to the competitive landscape, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” deal, announcing plans for additional menu items under its “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s has tapped into the trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and the $5 “Biggie Bag” combo.
