McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. A majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially launched on June 25. The deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, though the length of the promotion may vary by location, with some chains extending it until August.
As food prices remain high, especially in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s after the bundle was introduced, indicating that it has resonated well with consumers.
The success of this deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, and Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the initial offering, and has also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the trend by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
