McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a recent memo reported by Bloomberg. A majority of McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for four weeks.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the exact duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some restaurants extending the deal until August.

This extension comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 meal deal is proving to be beneficial for McDonald’s, attracting more customers during a time of economic strain.

Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the bundle resulted in a notable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, highlighting its appeal among consumers.

Other fast casual dining chains have taken notice of McDonald’s success with this promotion. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would surpass the duration of the McDonald’s offer. The chain also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the competition with its own $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
