Fast food leader McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks as demand remains strong.

According to a report from Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to keep the promotion going beyond the original four-week period that began on June 25. The meal bundle will continue to be available at around 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some choosing to extend it until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal is proving beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai highlighted a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion was launched, indicating it is appealing to patrons.

This deal has also prompted rival fast casual dining brands to ramp up their offerings in response. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent value menu with items priced at $1.99. Additionally, Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would have a longer run than McDonald’s promotion and announced new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has also joined the promotional fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
