McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: Why the Fast Food Giant Can’t Stop Now!

Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.

According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to prolong the promotion, which was initially set for a four-week duration starting June 25. The meal deal will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the specific extension period may differ by location, with some choosing to keep the deal until August.

This promotion comes at a time when many consumers are struggling with high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making McDonald’s offer appealing.

Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that after the introduction of the $5 bundle, there was a notable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, indicating that the deal is attracting consumers.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s deal, announcing new items in its “Fiery Menu” earlier this month. Wendy’s is also participating with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
