McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following initial success since its launch on June 25. According to Bloomberg, a memo revealed that most McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to continue this promotion beyond the originally planned four-week period.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the specific duration of the offer may vary by location, with some franchises opting to extend the deal until August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, this deal is proving beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by Placer.ai showed a significant increase in customer foot traffic at McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion began, indicating its attractiveness to customers.

The success of McDonald’s $5 meal deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the competition, offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box.

In a strategic move, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue for a longer period than McDonald’s deal and plans to introduce new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also participated in the promo race with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
