McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as noted in a memo from the company. A significant number of McDonald’s locations across the U.S. have chosen to prolong the promotion, which originally started on June 25. The offer will be available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the deal may vary by location, with some franchises planning to continue it until August.
The promotion comes at a time when many consumers are feeling the financial strain from rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 meal deal has proven to be beneficial for McDonald’s, as a recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a notable increase in customer visits following the launch of the promotion.
This successful initiative has prompted other fast casual dining chains to introduce their own competitive offers. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King revealed it would extend its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond McDonald’s offering and planned to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the promotional trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
