McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will continue for several more weeks, following a majority agreement among U.S.-based franchises to extend the promotion beyond the original four-week period that started on June 25.

According to a report from Bloomberg, approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations will continue to offer the bundle, although the promotion’s duration may vary by location, with some extending it until August.

As consumers face high food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s deal has proven appealing. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in visitor numbers at McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the promotion was introduced, highlighting its effectiveness in attracting customers.

The promotion has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In May, Burger King extended its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle for a longer duration than McDonald’s offer, while also announcing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag” in response to the competitive landscape.
