McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, according to a memo from the fast food chain. Originally launched on June 25 for a four-week promotion, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations will continue to offer this deal, with approximately 93% of restaurants participating. However, the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some chains choosing to keep it available until August.
As consumers face higher food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that the introduction of the bundle has led to a notable increase in customers visiting McDonald’s locations.
The success of the $5 meal deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would have an extended run, and it plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has joined the promotions with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
