McDonald’s, the iconic fast food chain, has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a significant number of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially began on June 25 for a four-week period. The deal will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration may vary by location, with some opting to keep the promotion running until August.
This extension comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. McDonald’s $5 bundle has proven to be effective in attracting customers during this challenging economic period.
A report from Placer.ai, a foot traffic analytics company, indicated that after the launch of the bundle, there was a noticeable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, demonstrating its popularity among patrons.
The success of McDonald’s offer has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In recent weeks, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the duration of McDonald’s deal and has also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the promotional trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
