Fast food giant McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to prolong the promotion, which originally started on June 25.
The $5 meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly within the fast casual dining sector, this deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reveals that the company experienced a significant increase in customer visits shortly after launching the bundled offer, indicating its appeal to diners.
The success of this promotion has prompted other fast casual dining brands to join the competition with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King declared that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than the McDonald’s deal, as it also rolled out new items from its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has entered the fray with its own $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
