McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a positive response from customers. A memo from the fast food giant, reported by Bloomberg, reveals that most U.S. McDonald’s locations have chosen to continue the promotion beyond its original four-week run, which started on June 25.
The $5 meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the specific duration of the offer may vary by location, with some extending it into August.
This promotion comes at a time when many consumers are facing high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The successful rollout of the bundle has led to an increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s locations, as highlighted by analytics firm Placer.ai.
In response to McDonald’s promotion, other fast casual chains are also introducing their own deals. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. This trend continues with Taco Bell, which announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Moreover, Burger King announced plans to extend its $5 “Your Way Meal” deal beyond the McDonald’s offering and introduced new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competition, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
