McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be available for a few more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to extend the promotion that initially started on June 25 for an additional period.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ depending on the location. Some franchises have decided to continue the deal into August.
This extension comes at a time when many consumers are feeling the pinch from rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 bundle has proven successful for McDonald’s, as evidenced by a recent report from the foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai, which noted a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the promotion.
The popularity of this deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box to complement its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In a competitive landscape, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
