McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal promotion for several more weeks, according to a memo obtained by Bloomberg. The initial four-week promotion, which began on June 25, will now be available at approximately 93% of its U.S. locations, although the exact duration may vary by restaurant, with some opting to continue the offer until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analysts from Placer.ai reported that the chain experienced a notable increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion rolled out, indicating strong consumer interest.
Other fast casual dining establishments are responding to the competitive landscape by introducing their own deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell has introduced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited period alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than the McDonald’s offer, while also planning to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the deal frenzy, offering a breakfast bundle for $3 and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
