Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the United States agreed to continue the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for a four-week period. The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some franchises choosing to keep the deal available until August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dinings sector, McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion was introduced, indicating its popularity among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted rival fast casual chains to introduce their own promotions to remain competitive. For instance, Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Furthermore, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s offering. Earlier this month, Burger King also stated it would add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the promotional push as well, launching a $3 breakfast bundle and introducing a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
