Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of U.S. McDonald’s locations will continue offering the promotion, which originally started on June 25. The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may vary by location, with some extending it through August.
As consumers face rising food costs, especially in the fast casual segment, this value deal is proving beneficial for McDonald’s. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that the introduction of this bundle has resulted in a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, suggesting a strong appeal among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own competitive offers. Arby’s is offering a $9 bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Meanwhile, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the duration of McDonald’s promotion and is introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the mix with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
