Fast food leader McDonald’s will continue its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to extend this promotion beyond its original four-week timeline that started on June 25. The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the specific duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some extending it until August.
This decision comes as consumers face rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 bundle has proven to be a success for McDonald’s, attracting more customers during a challenging economic period.
Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the launch of the bundle, indicating that the promotion is appealing to consumers.
The popularity of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own competitive offers. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time and continues to offer its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside its Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s promotion and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
