McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The promotion, which began on June 25, is set to remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, though the duration of the offer may differ by specific locations, with some restaurants planning to continue it until August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle is proving beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the launch of the meal deal, indicating that the offer is appealing to diners.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted competitors to introduce their own deals. For example, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced its $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and existing Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would last longer than McDonald’s promotion and earlier introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s added a $3 breakfast bundle and the “Biggie Bag,” a $5 combo, to compete in the current bargain offerings.
