Fast food leader McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several additional weeks. According to Bloomberg, a memo revealed that most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have opted to keep the promotion active beyond its original four-week timeframe that began on June 25.
The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of locations across the country, though the duration of the offer may differ by individual restaurant, with some extending it through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal has proven to be beneficial for the company. A recent analysis by foot traffic company Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the bundle, suggesting it is appealing to diners.
The success of this deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with competitive offers. Arby’s introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined in, promoting a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited period along with its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue beyond the McDonald’s promotion, while it also plans to introduce new items on its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is participating in the deals as well, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
